One fun and engaging activity the preschool children do each week is the letter of the week. In these photos you can see we focused on the letter “Ww”. The children engaged in a fiction story about witches where they practised saying the “Ww” phonetic sound. They then came up with their own list of words that start with “Ww”.
Later on, the children had the opportunity to create their own witch hats.
This is just one example of the many ways that preschool incorporate letters and phonics, through various activities, including whole group discussion time, arts and crafts, and storytelling. The aim is to expose the children to these school-readiness skills in multiple ways to help with retention and accommodate for all of their unique learning styles.
